Let us take an DVR as example to answer this question.

The DVR has 3 modes.

Mode 1: analog mode

If 8 analog cameras whose resolution is 1080P can be plugged into DVR directly.

Mode 2: network mode

If 4 IP cameras whose resolution is 1080P can connect system.

Mode 3: mix mode

If 2 analog cameras whose resolution is 1080P can be plugged into DVR directly.

At the same time,  2 IP cameras whose resolution is 1080P can connect system.

System can only be on one mode.

1. If you want system to connect IP camera, you need select mode 2 or mode 3. But in mode 2 or mode 3, the system is not able to connect 8 ananlog cameras. Do you mind that???

2. IP camera can not be plugged into DVR to get image. They must be plugged into router first. Here is method how to hook up IP camera to DVR:

The steps are complicated. Do you mind that?

Besides, the IP camera need meet some requirements so that system can connect it.

3. To confirg wireless function, you also need access camera on phone or computer to set up wifi so that camera can connect router by wifi instead of cable.

In other words, DVR can connect IP camera. But whether the camera can be wirelessly connected to router depends on the IP camera itself. If your IP camera supports wifi, system can connect it.

In summary, we don't suggest you use DVR to connect IP camera.
